Tesla Wall Connector: installation and price in Spain
Charging your Tesla at home is the most convenient and economical way to keep it topped up. The Tesla Wall Connector is Tesla’s official home charger, built to integrate seamlessly with your car and your home. This guide covers everything: features, mounting options, cost, installation and the tax deduction available in Spain.
What is the Tesla Wall Connector?
The Tesla Wall Connector is Tesla’s official home charger. It’s mounted permanently on a garage or carport wall and lets you charge the car every night, comfortably and automatically. Compared with a standard household outlet, it offers higher power, greater safety and full control from the Tesla app.

It’s compatible with any electric vehicle that uses a Type 2 connector, not just Teslas. Its lightweight design allows both indoor and outdoor installation.
With a Wall Connector installed, you plug in when you get home and wake up the next day with exactly the battery level you need. No fuel-station stops, no extra planning.
Key features
- Up to 7.4 kW on a single-phase install, up to 22 kW three-phase
- Up to 44 miles (71 km) of range added per hour of charging
- 23-foot (7.3 m) Type 2 cable included — works with Tesla and other brands
- Built-in Wi-Fi for automatic firmware updates (OTA)
- Control, scheduling and monitoring from the Tesla app
- Automatically adjusts power based on your home’s electricity use, to maximise charging speed
- Indoor or outdoor installation — weatherproof and dust-resistant
- Charge port release directly from the connector handle
- 48-month residential warranty from the invoice date
Wall-mounted or on a pedestal?
The Wall Connector can be installed two ways. Which one suits you mostly comes down to where you park and whether there’s a wall nearby.

Wall-mounted
Standard mounting
The simplest, cheapest option when there’s a garage wall close to where you park. Wiring is usually shorter and the job simpler.
Pedestal
Freestanding mount
Built for outdoor parking spots or driveways with no wall nearby. Requires the official pedestal accessory — an extra cost on top of the Wall Connector itself — and a somewhat bigger job to run the wiring out to the post.

Installation cost depends on your existing electrical setup, the distance to the fuse box, whether you choose wall or pedestal mounting, and the overall complexity of the job. Always get a detailed quote from a certified installer before committing.
Spanish tax deduction for the installation
Beyond the savings on the car itself, installing a home charge point in Spain carries its own tax deduction — separate from, and compatible with, the deduction for buying the vehicle.
The deduction is 15% of the installation cost, capped at a €4,000 base. That’s up to €600 of extra tax relief on the return for the year the installation takes place, in force until 31 December 2026.
- 15% deduction on the installation cost
- Maximum deductible base: €4,000
- Maximum saving: €600
- The installation must be at a property you own
- Must not be tied to a business activity
- In force until 31 December 2026
- Compatible with the deduction for buying the electric vehicle
This deduction is specific to the Spanish tax system (IRPF) — it only applies if you file taxes in Spain.

How it’s installed, step by step
Installation should always be carried out by a Tesla-certified installer. It’s the only way to keep the device’s 48-month warranty valid.
- 01Contact a Tesla-certified installer through Tesla’s official website or your Tesla advisor.
- 02The installer inspects the site and assesses your existing electrical setup.
- 03You receive a detailed quote within 5 business days.
- 04Installation itself takes 3 to 5 hours, depending on complexity.
- 05Once installed, you set up the Wall Connector from the Tesla app and connect it to your Wi-Fi.
- 06From there you can schedule charging times, track usage and control charging from the app.

Tesla recommends scheduling the installation before your car is delivered, so you can start charging from day one.
Wall Connector, home outlet or Supercharger
The Wall Connector isn’t the only way to charge a Tesla, but it’s the best-balanced option for everyday charging at home — trading off speed, convenience and cost.
| Option | Power | Approx. cost /100 km | When to use it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Wall Connector (home) | up to 22 kW | ≈ €1 – 1.5 | Daily use, every night at home |
| Household outlet | 2.3 kW | ≈ €1 – 1.5 | Emergencies or occasional backup |
| Supercharger | up to 250 kW | ≈ €5 – 11 | Long trips, fast top-ups on the road |

Does it work with other brands?
The Tesla Wall Connector isn’t Tesla-exclusive. It includes a Type 2 cable, the AC charging standard across Europe, so it also charges any other electric or plug-in hybrid vehicle that uses the same connector — the vast majority of what’s sold today.
Frequently asked questions
Do I have to install a Wall Connector to own a Tesla?
No, it’s not mandatory. A Tesla can also charge from a standard 230V household outlet, just more slowly. The Wall Connector is the recommended solution for daily use thanks to its speed and convenience.
How long does it take to charge a Tesla with a Wall Connector?
On an 11 kW three-phase install, a Tesla Model Y can fully charge in about 6-7 hours. On a single-phase 7.4 kW install, expect roughly 8-10 hours. For daily use, an overnight charge is more than enough.
Is the Wall Connector compatible with other car brands?
Yes. It includes a Type 2 cable, compatible with any electric vehicle using that same charging standard, not only Teslas.
Can I install a Wall Connector in a shared/communal garage?
Yes, it’s possible. In that case you’ll need approval from the residents’ association before scheduling the installation. Your Tesla-certified installer can help with the paperwork needed to present to the community.
What warranty does the Wall Connector come with?
The Tesla Wall Connector carries a 48-month (4-year) residential warranty from the invoice date, provided the installation was carried out by a Tesla-certified installer.
Do I need to increase my home’s contracted power to install it?
It depends on your current contracted power and the rest of your home’s electricity use. The certified installer checks your electrical setup during the site visit and will tell you if you need to increase it before commissioning the Wall Connector.
Can I install it myself without a certified installer?
It’s not recommended. Using an installer not certified by Tesla can void the device’s 48-month warranty, and the job involves working on your home’s electrical wiring, which should always be done by a qualified electrician.
How is it different from a generic Type 2 charger?
The Wall Connector is designed to integrate with the Tesla ecosystem: it adjusts power automatically based on home electricity use, receives firmware updates over Wi-Fi, and lets you release the charge port directly from the connector. It still charges any Type 2-equipped car, not just Teslas.
Can I take the Wall Connector with me if I move house?
Yes, it’s a removable device. Keep in mind that reinstalling it at a new home requires a certified installer again, and cost will depend on the new property’s electrical setup.
